Why companies should be hiring more apprentices?

Read Time:2 Minute, 35 Second

Many businesses offer apprenticeships program to their employees. Conducting a successful apprentice program is a productive & effective way that helps to grow the talent & created a motivated, skilled & qualified workforce for the business. Companies can hire apprentices at different stages, from school leavers & university graduates to candidates who want to boost their careers or may completely change their career direction.

Apprenticeships are typically seen as helping candidates get experience, expertise & ‘a kick start’ in a chosen industry. Nevertheless, for several businesses, it has not been enough. Especially during these uncertain recent times, companies consider that if carrying out an apprentice will result in actual business advantages or not, for example, a genuine worthy time investment.

There are several apparent reasons why companies should hire more apprentices; a few of them are:

Companies should try to inject more youthful talent as it can add a brand new dimension to the workplace. They bring a fresh perspective through new ideas. This may excite the existing employees & get a boost the overall productivity of the business.

  • Customized skillset:

We all know that a well-trained & highly skilled staff can add value to all businesses, both directly & by leading, coaching, and mentoring other team members. By hiring skilled apprentices, an organization can develop a team that tries to meet the business objectives.

Taking on with a qualified apprentice is a fantastic way of developing more new talent in a customized way, tailored to business-specific needs & goals. With tailored skills, an apprentice can work according to the business requirements. Eighty-six percent of employers claim that apprenticeships assisted them in developing skills related to their organization’s objectives.

  • Enhance the productivity:

Recruiting an apprentice is a cost-effective way to enhance the workforce. Recent studies have shown that more than 80 percent of businesses that hired apprentices eventually found that their productivity had increased. The reason could be that companies provide bespoke training to apprentices, & the injection of new talent helps companies grow their productivity.

  • Increase the employee retention rate:

Recruiting or hiring the new staff has a cost attached to it & can come along with risks. Upgradation of skills in the existing team is an effective way to ensure that an organization has enough capable personnel it needs without conducting a whole recruiting process for new hires. Hiring an apprentice can help a firm boost its employee retention, as apprentices try to be more honest towards the business compared to other kinds of employees. In fact, according to a survey, recruiting apprentices results in improved staff retention rates in 69 percent of organizations.

Conclusion:

Apprentices can be valuable to any workforce as employers train a new person from scratch according to their requirements. Companies don’t need to bear the cultural differences that mostly come from employees who have already worked for competitors. Companies should hire more apprentices as the advantages of hiring an apprentice are unexhausted, from boosting productivity & employee motivation to enhancing new skills & talent from within the organization and increasing staff retention.
