Read Time:2 Minute, 36 Second

Turmeric powerful herbs against cancer has been repeating over and over again the necessity of including turmeric into our diet every day and the countless health benefits associated with this wonderful spice, research institutions around the world have carried out numerous studies to confirm that fact. Ayurvedic doctor says, Although the anti-cancer benefits of turmeric are well-known, the mechanism through which the brilliant yellow organic compound fights cancer remains unanswered.

The latest reports indicate the findings of researchers at Pondicherry University and the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute have proved that curcumin, a biologically active ingredient in turmeric, can prevent and treat bowel cancer (colorectal cancer). They have discovered the mechanism through curcumin’s ability to kill hereditary polyposis cancerous cells in the colon and reported their research findings in March’s edition. Curcumin is believed to destroy specific colon cancer cells while protecting normal cells by boosting the levels of a protein called GADD45a. However, the substance doesn’t increase the identical gene in normal cells, and it does not harm the cancerous cells. This study could be helpful for ongoing clinical studies regarding this ‘potential cancer-preventive chemopreventive drug’.

In India, the rate of bowel cancer is very low compared to Western countries. Researchers attribute this low rate of bowel cancer to the regular usage of turmeric within Indian households. But, due to recent changes in diet and lifestyle habits of people living in India, they are at a higher risk. Bowel cancer is thought to be the third most infrequent cancer worldwide.

Turmeric is an ayurvedic medicine and food ingredient that is antiviral, antibiotic, antifungal, antiparasitic, and anti-helminthic when consumed internally or externally. It can be beneficial for chronic cough and bronchial asthma. Another little-known fact is that cataract, one of the primary causes of eye disease, is due to the oxidation process in the lens. One method to prevent oxidation, which accelerates due to ageing and can lead to many other major illnesses like cancer and atherosclerosis, is to incorporate Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and turmeric into our diet.

Ayurveda particularly suggests turmeric as a treatment and prevention of cancers in the female reproductive organs, especially uterine and breast cancers and prostate cancer. Currently, it is colon cancer. It is also useful for treating benign tumours too.

Turmeric also assists in the prevention of gallstones. It is a good iron source, which aids in treating inflammation, increases the stretch of ligaments, helps prevent flatulence and is the essential herb in the ayurvedic cure for diabetes. Ayurveda centre believes that turmeric reduces the blood sugar level, boosts glucose metabolism, and increases insulin activity by three times.

Turmeric aids the lungs in ridding themselves of Kapha. It also treats issues with lactation and ulcers. It also aids in detoxifying the liver, improves immunity, improves the appearance of the skin, stimulates digestion and treats the digestive tract.

Turmeric is the only plant to rely on for any nutritional and health needs. Its broad range of effects and mild but specific results are beneficial for daily and long-term use. Turmeric is, without a doubt, the herb to be living with.
