Kosice – The Slovak City with A Strong Economic Background and Residential Parking

Kosice is the largest city after the capital city, Bratislava in the Slovak Republic. Lying in the eastern part of Slovakia, this city has good commercial connectivity and is divided into four districts. It has its administrative centre and operates as an independent legal identity. 

Economic background

The Slovak city of Kosice has a strong economic background and offers good opportunities for employment for the population of the surrounding regions as well. U. S Steel Kosice Steelworks is the biggest local employer. A greater part of the city’s population works in the industrial sector while education and transport are also prominent sectors. 

It is the education sector that represents this Slovak city significantly with 45 basic schools, 15 specialized secondary schools 4 commercial academies, and 10 grammar schools. They cover industrial technologies, health care, agriculture, and art.

Residential parking in Kosice

With the improvement in the living standards of the people in the city, there is also an increase in the number of cars that have made options for parking in Kosice a challenge. There are no free parking spaces in the city’s centre on weekdays. 

This is one Slovak city that operates on the principle of paid residential parking since 2019. The money obtained from the parking fees is used in improving the infrastructure, building bike paths, and new parking lots. 

Parking in the city centre

The Aupark Shopping Centre in the centre of Kosice city offers 1100 underground parking lots. 

  • Parking is free for the first 6 hours on weekends and public holidays
  • It is chargeable on weekdays with the first 20 minutes free

The DoubleTree by Hilton car park, located just near Aupark Shopping Centre has 180 parking lots.

  • The first 15 minutes are free
  • An hour of parking costs 1.5 Euros and an entire day would cost 15 Euros

Cassovar on Zriedlova offers 13 parking lots with free parking for 30 minutes.

Getting a resident parking card

The Slovakian city of Kosice is divided into ten residential locations and four tariff zones. People have the facility of obtaining a resident parking card by either getting it from the city office or by filling a form on the city’s website. 

Parking for both residents and non-residents

The official website for availing of residential parking offers both resident and non-resident parking for the citizens. People can get a resident card online and the non-residents can pay a one-time parking fee by card or by sending a message on the number 2200. 

Usually, for non-residents, there are parking lots and garages available for rent that offers easy and safe parking at affordable rates.

The garages for rent in the Slovak cities are a great relief for people who keep searching for a good parking space either for a day or on an hourly basis. There are many parking lots and garages available both on short-term or long-term rent that are available for sale too. 

Renting a parking space or garage in Slovak cities keeps you completely free of the hassles of finding a parking space for your vehicle.
